It was 1968, and James Bakenshire had finally saved up enough cash to move out of his family's home in San Jose to join the hippie friends he had met in San Francisco.

The acid was clean and the music was pure, and each day unfolded in front of him with fresh bliss: life had become an exhuberant joy that he had never dreamed possible.
